Reverberations
For the “sound project” from my Graphic Design 2 class, I was tasked with making two collage based posters for a hypothetical sound-based performance for the Walker Art Center. I was given 24 audio prompts to listen to while generating both physical and digital visual elements. Although there were a variety of different sounds, most originated from people: crowds cheering, hearts beating, honking traffic, and so on. I wanted my posters to reflect the humanity within these noises, as they are all integral parts of our daily experiences. My process consisted of a lot of mark making, paper ripping, and distorting imagery with the scanner before putting it all together digitally. This is one of the projects I’ve had the most fun with, and the analog focus introduced me to new ways of making that have assisted me with all my projects moving forward.
